Hervé Léger Thinks Models Are ‘Too Skinny, Too Sad’

Hervé Léger the man lost control of Hervé Léger the label (which is now designed by Max Azria) in 1999. The following year Léger set up his new label, Hervé L. Leroux, which he still designs, but does not show on the runway. It\'s a good thing, because he thinks the girls he\'d have to choose from are \"too skinny, too sad\":

\"If I had to go back to catwalk presentations I would be in a panic...Already the models I find are too skinny, too sad. And I knew the age of the super top models, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford, who were always lively and smiling,\" Léger said. \"Today you go between several défilés and you will see the exact same type of girl - it just doesn\'t inspire me. Of course I do presentations, I do three presentations a year: spring, fall and cruise, that I show at my showroom and what I like is to have the buyers come to me. They buy, things sell well, and that really gives me the feeling of existing for something because I know that somewhere out there in the world I have clients that adore what I\'m doing and that\'s really reward enough.\"
You can see the difference between Cindy Crawford modeling in one of Léger\'s shows in 1993, and two top models modeling in Azria\'s Léger show last month. You wonder, would having a model with Cindy\'s body type in a runway show today really not sell the clothes? Women are all about a full, perky bosom these days.

This Herve Leger Swimsuit Can Be Worn Near Water, Not In Water

Swimsuit season is nearly upon us and, along with the usual selection of reliable one-pieces and tankinis, other, more absurd swimwear is starting to arrive on selling floors.
Like this one from Herve Leger.
The $1,050 cut-out tank suit is bright lavender and orange, made of polyester, nylon, and spandex bandages, and features a halter neck and a hidden zipper. The Net-a-Porter staff suggest it be worn with a Lanvin cuff, Michael Kors shorts, Giles & Brother necklaces, and a Jimmy Choo bag and shoes. That\'s all well and good.
But here\'s the kicker. In the bathing suit description, it says: \"To get the best from your Hervé Léger beachwear we advise you do not wear it in water.\"
Yup, a swimsuit that can be worn near water but shouldn\'t be worn in water. What will they think of next?
